Lionfish Hunting with Buck Beasley Lone Star Bed and Breakfast Roatan, Honduras
It was so much fun hunting Lionfish and fishing with Captain Buck Beasley and his lovely wife Amy and friends in November. Roatan has some beautiful reefs, and it was wonderful to be with Captain Buck on his day off. I was treated like a King, and Buck and Amy were super at killing the Lionfish they found. They had four friends with them who were great spotters and hunters also. The trip started with Captain Anthony trolling for Black Fin Tuna while we made our way to our fish dive site. A few fish were caught pretty quickly.
Next, we made our first dive, and boy, were the corals in great shape near the Lone Star B & B. We dove in Turquoise Bay and saw many fish and beautiful cut throughs with great coral on and around them. Captain Buck really knows the underwater terrain of Roatan, Honduras.
After coming up and taking a surface time break, we had some great homemade Kielbasa, pineapple, and some excellent homemade cookies. Hanging out with the Beasley’s can make you fat! They are such friendly, warm, and welcoming people. I can’t express how lucky I felt to get to dive and spend time with them.
On our way to the second dive site, Captain Buck caught a few more tuna and I inspected the Lionfish we all shot. Amy had the big one! She let us know she had an excellent first dive too. Captain Buck Beasley supports Lionfish University and Lionfishdivers.com. He has worked on many projects with LFU and is a character! I heard that from others but saw it firsthand. He is super fun and a great Lionfish hunter. Roatan is lucky to have the Beasley’s because they are helping daily keeping the Roatan reefs clean of Lionfish.
I highly recommend Captain Buck and the Lone Star B&B. You will not be disappointed!
