Association, Company, Affiliations: Association of artisanal fishermen of the South Caribbean

The Association was formed in 2009 to promote the practice of local fishing from the area of Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo through projects and links with institutions and private entities.

It has provided support to artisanal fishermen in the area, and has especially been responsible for generating links at the international level for the control of lionfish at the regional level.

They have received recognition with the Rotary Lemon Club, and the UNDP Small Grants Program. As well as the support of the IAF

They organize the lionfish tournament every year where there are diving and lionfish hunting competitions.

They are in charge of projects in view of the protection of reefs in search of community benefit.
